Directed Technologies and RMIT University partner to drive transport technology into healthcare with Next Gen AI program

Wednesday 25th September 2024 Melbourne, AustraliaDirected Technologies, a leading Australian-owned connected technology innovator, has entered into an ambitious strategic partnership with RMIT University and the CSIRO to leverage AI and emerging technologies from the transport sector to improve Australia’s health and aged care systems.

Directed Technologies is investing millions in the groundbreaking Next Gen AI Program, focusing on how emerging technologies like risk prediction, neural networks, video analytics, and machine learning in trucking and transport can be   integrated into healthcare to improve patient outcomes and streamline processes.

Following a rigorous selection process, Directed Technologies will fund five scholarships for exceptional PhD students selected from over 1,300 applicants to undertake the research. These students will tackle significant healthcare challenges over three years, in collaboration with RMIT University and CSIRO’s Next Generation Artificial Intelligence Graduates and Next Generation Emerging Graduates programs.

Students will investigate how technologies like location data, automated logistics, AI cameras, smartwatches, and sensor fusion can support patient care, aged care, and home care settings to enhance safety, response times, and patient mobility.

Insights from this research may also enhance health and safety in the transport sector, such as mitigating driver fatigue and identifying risk patterns through real-time data analysis and predictive modelling.
